Lottery Numbers

For February 29, 2024

The public lottery that was scheduled for 9:00 AM on Thursday February 29th will not take place.  At this time there will not be any names drawn due to the preferences in our charter. 

K-11th Grade Applicants

All lottery applicants K-11th Grade BUSD/River Islands Residents that applied are eligible to complete an enrollment packet for the 2024-2025 school year.  Eligible registrations will be available online starting March 20th, 2024. A link will be sent via email to the email address provided on the lottery survey.

TK Resident Applicants w/Currently Enrolled Siblings

If you submitted an application for a TK student during the lottery window and you have a child already attending a school in RIA, you will receive an email with registration information.  On March 20, 2024, a link will be sent to the email address provided on the lottery survey.

Non-Sibling TK Applicants

If you submitted an application for a TK student during the lottery window, and you do NOT have a child already attending a school in RIA, you will receive an email with TK program availability in the surrounding area. Applicants’ names will be saved in the event that additional space becomes available.  

Once all enrollment forms have been reviewed and eligibility verified, school assignments will be distributed.  Families are not guaranteed their first preference of school as space is limited at specific sites by grade level.  All lottery applicants will be notified of school assignments by June 15, 2024.

Lottery/Admissions Information

If you are interested in having your child’s name entered in a lottery for openings for the 2024-2025 school year, please apply to the lottery during the application window of February 5th - February 23rd. It does not matter if you apply to the lottery on February 5th, February 15th, or February 20th; all names submitted during this window will be placed in the lottery on February 29, 2024, for grades where spaces are available.  

NOTE:  In following our lottery preferences within our charters, we do not anticipate that there will be any space for new students who do not reside within the Banta Unified School District boundaries (River Islands is within BUSD).

All residents of the Banta Unified School District (River Islands is within BUSD) along with applicants from outside BUSD, must fill out the Lottery/Request for Application Form. The Lottery/Request for Application Form will be available on the school website February 5th - February 23rd.

• Please submit your child’s name one time only.

• Kindergarten children must be 5 years old, on or before, September 1, 2024

• TK children must turn 5 years old between September 2, 2024 and June 2, 2025

• Information regarding specific grade level available spaces will be posted on the River Islands Academies website by Wednesday, February 28, 2024.

• The public random lottery drawing will take place at EPIC Academy (2760 Penrose Ln. Lathrop, CA 95330) on February 29, 2024 at 9:00 AM. The public is invited to attend.

• Lottery results will be posted on the website by March 4, 2024.

• If a student is selected in the lottery, additional paperwork will be required before enrollment is confirmed.

• When the February lottery has been completed for the projected seats available, the remaining names will be kept for future selection during the 2024-2025 school year with priority given to residents of the district, which includes River Islands.

Admission preferences in the case of a public random drawing shall be as follows:

• All students who are attending  a charter school operated by River Islands Academies

• Children of River Islands Academies teachers, staff, and founders identified in the charter (not to exceed 10% of enrollment)

• Residents of the District who have siblings admitted to or attending a River Islands Academies Charter School.

• Residents of the District

• Non-Residents of the District who have siblings admitted to or attending a River Islands Academies School

• All other students

NOTE:  Residents of the District refers to students who reside in Banta Unified School District (BUSD) River Islands Development resides within the boundaries of BUSD.
